Arlen Inspecter #3 - "Not a Loyal Democrat"
THE ARLEN INSPECTER
After 45 years as a loyal Republican, Arlen Specter can change his registration, but not his allegiance. He made it clear himself that he has no intention of being a loyal Democrat (Meet The Press, 5/3/09). To see where his loyalty truly lies, look no further than the candidates he funded and campaigned for over the last few years: John McCain and Sarah Palin over Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Rick Santorum over Bob Casey, and Congressional candidates from Erie to Philadelphia. He even Co-Chaired George W. Bush’s Pennsylvania re-election campaign!
As a loyal Republican, the Real Arlen Specter made sure Republicans in Pennsylvania were well funded, including in the last few years alone giving:
•$90,000 to local Republican committees to defeat Democrats in 2008 alone
•$10,000 to Rick Santorum in 2006
•$12,000 to re-elect Phil English against Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-3) in 2008
•$5,000 to Rep. Jim Gerlach (PA-6) since 2006
•$10,000 to Republicans to defeat Joe Sestak
•$5,000 to Melissa Hart against Jason Altmire (PA-4) in 2008
•$15,000 to Don Sherwood and Chris Hackett to defeat Chris Carney (PA-10)
•$5,000 to Marina Katz against Rep. Allyson Schwartz (PA-13) in 2008
•$10,000 to Republicans to defeat Patrick Murphy (PA-8)
•$2,500 to Joe Pitts (PA-16) in 2008
•$2,500 to Charlie Dent (PA-15) in 2008
The Real Arlen Specter showed his loyalty to the Republican Party, giving:
•$7,500 to John McCain to defeat Barack Obama
•$10,000 to Norm Coleman to defeat Al Franken
•$10,000 to Ted Stevens in 2008
•$10,000 to Elizabeth Dole in 2008
•$5,000 to Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell in 2008
•$5,000 to now-RNC head Michael Steele in 2006
•$10,000 to Senator Jon Kyl in 2006
•$10,000 to George Allen to defeat Jim Webb
He may have switched the letter after his name, but the Real Arlen Specter will always be a loyal Republican.
