Paying off Republican friends with Democratic donors’ money
Last April, the Real Arlen Specter switched parties making a promise to his Republican donors that "upon request, I will return campaign contributions contributed during this cycle."
This past September, the Real Arlen Specter held a fundraiser with Democratic donors where President Obama made an appearance. The next day, with Democratic funds in-hand, the Real Arlen Specter posted on his website, for the first time, that anyone wanting a refund because of his party switch could now contact his office.
“If you contributed to Citizens for Arlen Specter Committee prior to the Senator's party switch on April 28th of this year, and would like a refund of that contribution because of the party switch, please forward your request to us no later than Oct. 15th by emailing us at info@specter2010.com with the pertinent details.”
The Real Arlen Specter uses Democrats’ money to pay off of his outstanding obligations to his Republican friends.
